Day 24: Travel Story
My parents will get a kick out of this memory. Matt and I went with them to Valdosta, GA for one of Logan’s baseball games (UWF was playing Valdosta State). I handled all the travel plans and had booked us a couple of hotel rooms. We get close to Valdosta and my dad starts asking about where we are going. The conversation went a little like this…
Dad: “So where is the hotel located?”
Me: “Umm, I really don’t know.”
Dad: “Well what do the directions say?”
Me: “Well, I didn’t really print off directions.”
Dad: “Ok, what major road does it say it is near?”
Me: “Dunno.”
Dad: “Well what is the address?”
Me: “Umm, I don’t have the address.”
Dad: “Well let’s call the hotel. What is the number?”
Me: “I don’t think I have the number.”
Dad: “Good grief Leanne, what is the name of the hotel then?”
Me: “Is it bad that I didn’t write that down either?”
Dad: “So you’re telling me that we are in Valdosta for 4 days and you have no clue the name of the hotel, let alone where it even is?”
Me: “I guess you could say that."
Dad: “Well where in the heck are we supposed to go?!”
Me: “Can’t we just drive around until I see something that sounds familiar?”
Dad: "How will you know if something looks familar if you have no clue what you are even looking for in a city you have never been to?"
Me: "Well I think I will recognize the name if I see it on the sign."
Dad: "So I am suppose to just drive all around town until you see something that looks familar."
Me: "Yep. Atleast we will get a tour of the town."
Definitely one of my blonde moments. We did finally find the hotel, and yes it was because I recognized the name on the sign. The rooms are a whole other story. I'll just say that they had hot tubs smack dab in the middle of the room. I have a feeling this hotel served some other purposes besides hosting family trips. Pretty sure I won't be in charge of booking the hotels for any upcoming trips.
