South Beach

So we've been following the South Beach diet for a whole week now and I have to admit that I feel pretty good. Although I generally do not support or encourage "diets," but rather a healthy lifestyle that does not just last for a short period, I do think South Beach is a pretty good plan if you want to shed a few lbs., kick cravings or simply clean your insides out a little. I bought the original book back in 2003, and recently picked up the new "South Beach Super Charged" edition. It's got lots of useful information. For those of you that don't know how it works, it's basically a 3 part/phase plan. The first phase lasts for 2 weeks and basically you cut out all starches and sugar. I do feel a lot better, have more energy, and just don't feel as lethargic as I usually do. One thing I really like about SB is that it teaches your body that you really don't NEED things like you think you do. I always think I NEED something sweet after a meal, or I NEED a piece of bread with my dinner. Sometimes these cravings can get out of control. Although the first few days of the plan were a little rough, once I got over the cravings, I really didn't think about them anymore. Ok, that's kind of a lie...I really would love a big, fat muffin right now....
