Because who doesn't love some Chex Mix?

I know I do.  Which is why I decided to make a huge batch this past weekend.  There are like a gazillion recipes out there, each a little different.  I decided to go with Pioneer Woman's take (with a couple subs).  PW never steers me wrong.  Speaking of...did you see the Spinach Artichoke Pasta she recently posted?  Aye, aye, aye.

Chex Mix

Ingredients:
  • 3 cups Corn Chex
  • 3 cups Wheat Chex
  • 3 cups Rice Chex
  • 2 cups pretzel sticks
  • 2 cups Gold Fish (or Cheeze-Its)
  • 2 cups mixed nuts (although I think I used closer to 1 cup)
  • 1 stick butter (I used "light")
  • 3 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Several shakes (6-7) Tabasco sauce
  • 3 garlic cloves, mashed
  • 1 tsp seasoned salt (I used Crazy Jane's)
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
Directions:

Preheat oven to 250 degrees.  Dump cereal into a big ole' bowl.  Add pretzel sticks, Gold Fish and nuts and mix it all up.  In a separate small bowl, add remaining ingredients and microwave until butter is melted.  Stir together and drizzle into the cereal mixture, stirring as you go.  Transfer mix onto one or two baking sheets with sides.  (I actually used 2 large Pyrex dishes. You just need something big that has at least 1 inch sides).  Bake in a 250 degree oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.  Let cool and store in an airtight container.  Try not to eat it all in one day.
