I think I am going to start doing this "Over the Weekend" post every Sunday night (or in this case, Monday morning). Not that we normally do anything exciting over the weekend, but like I've said before, I enjoy documenting things that we do, no matter how ordinary they may be. Yes this blog serves as a way to keep in touch with family and friends, and it is sort of a creative "outlet" for me, but it is also journal for me as well. I love going back and reading past posts...they bring back good memories:) I'll probably be one of those moms that uses her blog as a baby book when the time comes, ha! The busy mom's version of a baby scrapbook. That's got me written all over it!
Anyways, our weekend wasn't very exciting, which is A-OK considering that last weekend was jam packed. Friday night I had my senior seminar (bar review) class. Have I mentioned how poopy it is having class on Friday nights? Well, it is. Oh well, I can't complain because I thought I would never make it to senior seminar. All us law students know that means we are oh so close to graduation. Since I get home pretty late on Fridays, we can't ever do much. We watched a few episodes of Mad Men. We just have the season 4 finale to watch and then we will be all caught up. Too bad season 5 won't be starting until next year. I love that show! We need another show to watch from the beginning...any suggestions?? Matt wants to watch The Wire. I know nothing about this show.
Saturday we went to Panera for some b-fast, grocery shopped and did other random errands and then basically vegged out all day and watched football. I did go for a long run, and by long, I mean that I got lost on a trail run in the woods. I also managed to trip over a rather large tree root and take a face plant in the dirt. I have some lovely raspberries and cuts on my knees and shins. I need some trail running shoes.
We ate "tailgate food" Saturday night and watched the Tigers roll over those Mountaineers! We were moved to the #1 spot in the rankings after that pretty win...Geaux Tigers!! In all honesty though, I'm not a fan of the #1 ranking. I feel like we now have a huge bullseye target on our back. We'll have a friendly little rivalry in the house this coming weekend with the LSU/KY game as long as KY does not come out of the woodwork and take away our #1 spot liike they did circa 2007.
Sunday we had an amazing service at church. We wrapped up our At the Movies series with Cinderella Man and it was really inspiring. I swear, there isn't a service that goes by where I don't walk out completely inspired and in awe of our amazing God! It really sets me up to have a great week. That night I made my first attempt at shrimp and grits. This is one of Matt's favorite dishes to get when we go out to eat, and after coming across a good recipe in my latest Southern Living, I decided to give it a whirl. It came out really good! I definitely recommend trying this out. Other things cooked this week that are worthy of a post on the recipe blog....Veggie Chili, Pumpkin Bread, and Cake Batter Blondies. I''ll get those recipes up at some point this week.
Until then...hope everyone has a fabulous week! Can you believe it's almost October?!
