So did you know that many churches and spiritual leaders believe that today, 5/21/11, is suppose to be when Rapture occurs? I have known this for awhile now and I'd be lying if I said that I did not think about it a lot, especially as the day grew nearer. Here I am though, on 5/21/11, and so far I am still doing the same ole same ole, still sitting on the couch watching re-runs of Khloe and Lamar....
On another note, today is Gram's birthday. If she were still here, we would have celebrated with a delicious home cooked (by Pops) dinner and a lovely white cake with white icing. I would have bought her a pair of clip-on earrings, or maybe a pretty necklace to wear to church. She would have acted embarrassed as we sang her "Happy Birthday" but deep down, we all knew she loved it.
Seeing as how it would also be Rapture Day, we probably would have gotten in some humorous religious debate. Grams was quite the southern Baptist and although we are all believers in our family, we have slightly different "views." This made for good dinner time conversation. It was always a hoot getting Grams riled up with the modern views. I'll never forget when the Da Vinci Code came out and Matt was explaining the plot to her and all the biblical references. She about died when we brought up the notion of Jesus being married. God bless that special lady. I miss her dearly.
Happy Birthday Grams! We are so happy you are with us in spirit as we celebrate your special day:)
