Almost Turkey Time!!

So first off, look at how organized (nerdy) I am...

I carefully made my list and actually separated everything by section in the grocery store. Make fun of me if you will, but this was very helpful and made the whole shopping experience much more efficient. I also have a cooking schedule so I know when I need to start preparing things. Last night I fixed the cornbread (for the dressing). I had a little scare this morning when I woke up and it was not sitting on the counter where I had left it to cool. Riley is NOTORIOUS for swiping stuff off the counter. In fact, even when he can't reach things, he improvises. See this cinnamon roll?

See how the top layer and icing is missing? Riley couldn't reach far enough to get the whole thing so he just ate off the top part, where the good stuff is anyways! Sneaky little booger he is. But anyways, turns out Matt had put the cornbread in the oven, obviously already seeing a potential disaster. Crisis averted.

On the menu we have fried turkey, Tofurkey (for yours truly), cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, broccoli casserole, corn pudding, roasted brussel sprouts, fruit salad, cranberries, pumpkin bread, rolls, ham and biscuits, banana croquettes, chocolate covered cherry pie and sweet potato pie. Whew! Going to be a busy girl! This is why I had to carefully plan out my cooking schedule. Of course my M.I.L. will be here to help out and Matt is in charge of frying Mr. Turkey. I tried to talk him into adopting a turkey through Farm Sanctuary this year instead of eating one, but this did not go over too well. Maybe next year...;)
